Promoted by Routard guide over the years, Kompressor is one of the few places where you can still find some 100% Estonian students. Cheap drinks and enormous – yet delicious! – pancakes are the specialty of a place filled in with big rund wooden tables and populated by young and non posh students.
Try to go there at least 20 minutes before the closing of the kitchen and remember to bring cash as Kompressor is one of the few places where is still not possible to pay with credit cards.
I always invite my friends there, when they come to visit me, or if I go for a date. It’s really romantic atmosphere and reasonable prices.
My favorite pankcake is with Icecream and chocolate topping. Mmm chocolote… It reminds me so much about other good things :*
I do go there from time to time. It is a nice place where you can get a good meal for a low price. You don’t see that ofter in the center of the Old Town any more!
good place to go. even though portions got smaller lately, price is still very competitive and you’re not hungry anymore after a huge Estonian pancake!

Pancakes are really huuuge and delicious. For an average girl it is really hard to eat 2 of them (a portion).

Kompressor is fantastic, beautiful pancakes and they also make a mean solyanka. Bad points are cash only…WTF and sometimes a long waiting time. Good points, Great atmosphere, excellent food and nice location.
Kompressor is a definite recommend in my books.
Pancakes for your body,mind and soul? Kompressor is really one of the “Must visit!” places in Tallinn. Back in the old days, when it was allowed to smoke inside, Komprossor was still one of the places i loved, but hated it for that specific reason. Now, that people finally thought about non-smoking persons as well, the rule was changed and you can enjoy a nice meal, without having to suffocate from smoke. Medium prices, huge portions(depending on the appetite and persons eating limit ofcourse), Komprossor is a get-together place for young ones and people of any age, race, sex. Only thing that i would complain about, are the toilets. For being a clean-freak like i am, i always need to wash my hands before eating something. And yet i have never witnessed any soup liquid in the loo. So, if the staff could refill it sometimes, then Kompressor would be the perfect place for eating.
Note that it is not only sweet pancakes that they offer but also salty ones! And these are often even better – garlic/cheese, blue cheese/champignons etc

At certain times it is mostly pupils going there, so don’t be surprised if the average age among the visitors is 16. (:
Not only students, good option for families with children as well.. and beer addicts. These garlic & cheese pancakes are good with large amount of beer. However waiting time and lack of seats may be a problem.
