Let Iceland Join the EU – For Estonia’s Sake!
Estonian Member of the European Parliament Indrek Tarand said that Iceland not becoming an EU Member State would be a bad scenario for Estonia because two main reasons: first as Iceland is a small and nice country like Estonia and then because the EU should try focusing more its attention on the Nordic area to compensate the South European financial problems.
After the crash of what seemed to be the Icelandic economical paradise, the island saw kindly its incorporation to the EU which, until then had not even remotely, referred to.
Nothing new after all since, as usual, after economical crushes everyone shows to be ready to try anything to recover, even when this anything is named European Union.
A game of selfishness, this one, that is not hard to see also behind the words of Indrek Tarand who seems seriously concerned about the future development that, right yesterday, received some not too positive forecasts from Sweden with SEB saying that if Euro will not come, Estonian economy will continue to fall.
According to SEB bank’s economist Hardo Pajula, “With euro we see a growth trajectory. If it doesn’t come, then at least in shorter perspective, the cycle will be launched backwards.”
Pajula added that the reason why the euro could not come is the developments around Greece, but anyway the bank’s forecast is though that the euro will come with 90% likelihood.

Why does the whole population of the earth think Iceland wants to join the EU. Since when did they say that?
All Iceland wants to do is to see what kind of deal could be gotten with the EU, since it does not interest them at the moment. But not even the "deal makers" want to join the EU. And neither does the public.
If a deal could be gotten and Iceland gets the OK stamp to join the EU, a public voting would be called and this deal would get rejected.
I'm starting to hate media, they just write up stories. Like BBC saying stuff like "Iceland desperately wanting to join the EU" says fckn who?
