Estonians Students Turn to the European Commission

According to the Tallinn Student Bodies Round Table, the different prices policy for the tickets of the public transports that make a difference between Tallinn residents and students from the rest of the country are unfair and therefore worth an official complaint to the European Commission in order to start a procedure against the Estonian State in the issue.

On December 2009 the Tallinn city Council approved a decree to raise the price of tickets for students who are from outside the city by over 300%. This measure has been implemented from 1st February this year.

The student organization claims that the decree is not valid according to the principles of free movement of goods, services and workforce determined by EU and that is why they maintain that the European Commission should intervene in the affair.
