While talking on the tv program “ Vabariigi kodanikud”  Jüri Mõis said that Estonia will miss out on a lot thanks to the decision of staying out of the NordStream pipeline project.

“We have already lost a lot of jobs. We have 12% of economic recession and unemployment. Continuing with this kind of attitude will not make things better,” said Mõis.

“What will we loose? Well, we already lost jobs and we will we will diverge from the Scandinavian energetic main road though we also will receive gas” ,” said Mõis.

“The project started in 1993 when, back then, it was a Finnish private project. They turned to Estonian government and Eesti Gaas to get help as this pipeline was meant to be build on the Estonian territory,” Mõis reminded to ETV audience.

“Estonians told them not to place it on the ground, but to put in the sea and now, years later, it seems that everybody else except Estonians, are satisfied with NordStream project. Our environmental protection is so strong that it has a bad influence of our economy,” he stated commenting the position of the Estonian Fund for Nature.

“Any reasonable country should fight for investments, not fight against them,” he concluded.
