
E24 reported that in October consumer prices fell mainly because of food becoming 2,2% cheaper on a year-over-year comparison leading Estonia to depreciate the monthly expenses by 0,1%.

Cost of life in Estonia decreased by 0.1% if compared with 2008
According to the Statistical Office, this was the first time when prices fell more than 2%.
In October, comparing to the same time last year, goods were 3,1% and services 0,5% cheaper.
Comparing to last year’s October, administratively adjustable prices of goods and services have ascended 0,4% and OTC prices 2,9%.
The index has been influenced the most by 6,9% fall in food prices.
Out of housing expenses, rents have fell 33,4% and heating costs 11%. motor fuel was 5,1% cheaper.
Comparing to September, in October the consumer index was most influenced by ending the special sales of alcohol, depreciation of fuel, bread products’ special sales and the 1,3% appreciation of thermal energy.
