Estonian Father of the Year to Be Named Today

Estonia’s Women Union hands over the annual Father of the Year title on Sunday in Estonia concert hall in Tallinn, mediates Postimees.

The Union’s chairwoman, Siiri Oviir, will hand over the 12^th title to the father of the year. The Estonian First Lady Evelin Ilves will also partecipate and hand over a special edition of the book“ Kalevipoeg” with a leather cover ralized by the Estonian artist Kiira Mari-Anne Kadarik.

At the clebrative concert in Estonia concert hall  the public will listen to Tartu University’s academic women choir and Tartu University’s chamber choir, led by conductor Triin Koch. Also Tartu Karlova high school boy ensemble will perform led by conductor Tiia Puhvel.

The concert will be covered live by Estonian Public Televison and will be free of charge for all the people who will decide to face the snow and go the the concert hall righ outside the Capitol historical centre

Last year the title was given to Hans Sissas who is the father of three children and the author of the idea of Estonia’s Mother monument.

An Estonian citizen who has or has raised up at least two children, can run as a candidate for the honorary title of Father of the Year. The candidate must be competent, generally recognised in his work and give good example in valuing his family.
