Estonia alarmed about Russian purchase of warship
Estonia is concerned about the Russian plans to buy a new French warship, which will arrive to St.Petersburg today so the Russian defense industry experts will be able to inspect it.
Mistral: Will it be a threat for Estonia?
This Mistral class ship has a transport capacity of 16 helicopters, more than 70 vehicles, including 13 battle tanks, 4 landing barges and about 450 military personnel.
Estonian Security analyst Eerik Niiles Kross have shown his worries about Russia could deploy this ship in the Baltic Sea, which would provide them with a considerable advantage.
Ants Laaneots, Commander in Chief of the Estonian Forces also asserted that Estonia would have to take security measures if finally the warship is sold to Russia.
Anyway Russian Government has yet to make a decision whether the country needs to build amphibious assault ships as the Russian shipbuilders oppose to the deal with France.
once again, the goal is to create fear and stigmatise everything related to Russia… it doesnt improve anything for Estonia but it's not the first time it happens (remember the "war plan"…)
Just ridiculous! Attacking Georgia is not like attacking EU/NATO and Medvedev/Putin perfectly know that, they're everything BUT stupid!

Is not like Russia hasn't given countless reasons to be worried.
well; France also has a warship… we do not plan to use it, this for dissuasion – just in case…
Maybe Russia will use it but why should they use it in Estonia??!!
I think we all have warships and, for how the economy is doing, I don't know if such "inactivity" will last for a lot.
Still, once more, I do not think Russia would be so stupid to spend money for a warship and then attack an EU – even before Nato – Member State

This is old news but i do believe that Russias and everyone elses decision to build and purchase aircrafts is due to the fact that out of 22 global carriers, 11 are owned by the United States. Thus nations that can afford it are seaking a way to protect them selves and perhaps challenge the US naval domination. Even if the russians comission the french carrier, it is no threat to a well equipped army ready to defend it's soil, and most sertainly not enough to challenge the US domination. Most likely i'd say this carrier is to be deployed in the pacific due to Chinas growing fleet, wich includes carriers.
