The Lisbon Treaty Enters into Force
During the summit of the European Council the governments and heads of state have reached an agreement

The Lisbon Treaty is finally a reality after its troublesome iter
that enables the Lisbon Treaty to enter into force in the end of the year.
The agreement means that an additional protocol will be added to the EU Treaty.
The content of the treaty says that the Charter of Fundamental Rights does not apply to the Czech Republic’s national law, which is not related to the transposition or implementation of the European Union law. The similar protocol has previously been applied to the UK and Poland.
“I hope that the principle discussions about the EU first treaties are over for the time being. I believe that the next time we will already be able to discuss the matters concerning implementation of the treaty and ensure a strong functioning of the EU”, stated the Prime Minister Andrus Ansip.
During the meeting today the financing of the international climate agreement was discussed as well, and the discussions on the topic are to continue tomorrow.
The Prime Minister hopes that the agreement on the common European Union climate negotiation position will be reached as well.
