Estonian Prime Minister is confident that the country will have the new currency by next year, in 2011.

In his opinion Estonia will take the necessary measures to meet the goal of lowering the budget deficit below 3% of gross domestic product, a requirement that the EU claims to have the Euro.

Thus Estonia aims to be the next European country to join the euro. This aims to strengthen investor confidence and boost trade by eliminating the risks for companies.

And also to overcome having the third worst recession among EU Member States.

Representatives of the opposition party People’s Union confirmed during the first Reading of the budgets, to support it in order to keep the budget deficit unchanged.
