Leaders of the European Film Academy checked up on how are preparations going for the Film Academy Awards gala taking place in December 2010 as Aktuaalne Kaamera reported: “ The event. something that could be compared to the Oscar Academy Awards, will take place in Solaris Centre which at the moment is still full of dust and construction noises.”
The tradition of European Film Awards ceremony began 20 years ago in Berlin where it takes place every second year letting the other years the Award travel throughout Europe.
Director of European Film Academy and the main producer Marion Döring checked most of the venues when they were in their building phase. “ We keep an eye on everything: we want to be sure that the hall is big enough and is the stage good enough. We check the red carpet area, party area. Everything,” said Döring.
The two days of celebrations will cost about 2 million euros, meaning over 30 million EEK which will be shared by the European Film Academy and the city hosting the event.
Döring: “ Usually we divide assignments. Tallinn deals with local issues such as the area of hotels and the festival. We bring all the production, preparations, nominations etc.”
On the 3rd of December 2010 hundreds of journalists are expected to arrive to Tallinn where, according to the head of PÖFF, Tiina Lokk, promises a full culture program.
“ We want to introduce Estonian literature. We have planned a big orchestra for next year that will come to play Estonian movies music so that we could introduce the music and Estonian movies,” said Lokk.
Europe’s best directors will meet Estonian culture and people.
“ One of our plans is to take the directors to have lunch in different Estonian homes,” said Lokk, who thinks that good cooking and speaking foreign languages are an important parts of good hosting.
European Film Awards ceremony will take place on the 4th of December 2010 in Tallinn.
